Graduate Student Services

The university provides strong support for graduate students. Alwina Bennett, Assistant Provost for Graduate Student Affairs, is a major resource for students seeking to navigate their way through the graduate program.

Health Insurance

The university has recently negotiated a significant upgrade in the quality of graduate student health care. The most up-to-date information can be found on the Health Center website.

On-Campus Housing

A small number of residence hall spaces, which are assigned by David Cotter, Assistant Dean for Admission, are available to graduate students. For more details, see the on-campus housing website.

Off-Campus Housing

Nearly all graduate students live off campus, primarily in Waltham or in the Cambridge-Somerville area. The university organizes two apartment-hunting weekends each summer, providing housing and transportation to assist incoming students to find a suitable apartment. In addition, an off-campus housing office helps students to locate appropriate, affordable apartments. For more details, please contact Nicole Fadavi, Assistant Director of Off Campus Housing, or see the off-campus housing website.

Disability Resources

The university provides reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Once accepted, a student must document a learning, physical, or psychological disability at Brandeis to receive appropriate  services. For more details, see the disabilities services website.

Psychological Counseling

Confidental psychological counseling services are available to Brandeis graduate students through a variety of means.

Students who have paid the health services fee may receive professional assistance for personal or emotional problems.

Students who have not paid the health-services fee may receive information about off-campus resources or referrals for assistance. For details see the counseling center website or contact:
