Subjects of exhibition include Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
"Icons of the Civil Rights Movement," an exhibition honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other Americans who who gave their lives to the movement including Emmett Till, Rosa Parks and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, is on display in Goldfarb Library through Tuesday, Sept. 30.
The subjects of the portraits, created by Pamela Chatterton-Purdy, were victims of tragedy, but the show celebrates their lives and their common mission of social justice. Chatterton-Purdy spoke with BrandeisNOW about why she decided to organize the traveling show and about her longtime dedication to social justice.
